Sanya in China signs MoU to officially enter international exhibition market

Sanya Exhibition Industry Association, ExpoPromoter and STATA signed a strategic cooperation memorandum on 28 February, thus contributing to the internationalisation of the trade show industry in China’s Hainan province.
The signing ceremony was jointly led by Sanya Science and Technology Industry Development Committee and Sanya Commerce and Exhibition Bureau. It was attended and witnessed by the heads of all relevant Sanya city departments.
Partnering with STATA made it possible for ExpoPromoter to contribute to the development of the trade show industry in Hainan province and arrange a meeting with the province government representatives.
The signing of the memorandum was preceded by the meeting held on 25 February.
The meeting and discussion between ExpoPromoter, Mr Shen Xiaoming, the governor of Hainan, and Mr Yan Chaojun, mayor of Sanya, indicated the mutual interest in the cooperation mainly in terms of development of the trade show industry in Sanya. Having reviewed the business activity of the company, Xiaoming offered ExpoPromoter to open the head office in Sanya granting the support of the province government.
Moreover, ExpoPromoter and Xiaoming discussed the involvement of the ExpoPromoter company in the opening of Sanya International Culture Expo Center in December 2018. Within the framework of this project, the ExpoPromoter company is planning to create a multilingual expo hub which would simplify the process of selling trade show stands as well as providing customer support on site for both exhibitors and visitors.
ExpoPromoter has a large number of international trade show resources – therefore the company will be able to ensure the implementation of following memorandum purposes: building more effective cooperation mechanisms and information sharing channels; and enhancing the effectiveness of international exhibition industry and investment in Sanya.
The tripartite memorandum is aimed at implementing the State Council’s opinions on further promoting the reform and development of the exhibition sector as well as at seizing other related opportunities like enlarging and strengthening the trade show industry in Sanya.
According to the provisions of the memorandum, the three parties will cooperate closely to fully integrate multiple resources and introduce trade show brands by building an international exhibition operation and exhibition system, nurturing a distinctive trade show brand in Hainan, strengthening personnel training, and cooperating with international talents.
Settling in Sanya will help all the parties, and ExpoPromoter in particular, to further enhance the branding, specialisation, and internationalisation of the Sanya convention and exhibition industry.
Moreover, it will help to promote the construction of coastal tourism in the city, thereby enhancing the development momentum and international competitiveness of the province. Additionally, it will attract attention to Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center as well as promote the international development of Hainan’s regional economy.
The tripartite memorandum will help Hainan to become an internationally renowned convention and exhibition center, and a conference destination which will accelerate the implementation of the “three-year shaping, five-year trend” target set by Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government.
Sanya International Culture Expo Center is a comprehensive commercial operation focused primarily on cultural exposure, which includes an exhibition hall and five multi-purpose rooms for conferences and trade shows. The project covers land area of 41,026sqm and a gross floor area of 114,677.6sqm, the total floor space (total capacity 73677.6sqm) with a total investment of CNY1.28bn (US$203.5m).
The project is to be completed – and opened – in the first half of 2019, while the expo center will be completed in December 2018.
